Shepherd Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

The Lord is my best friend, my shepherd. I rest in your love. You revive my life. You lead me in your pleasure so I can bring honour to your name. You comfort me and take away my fear.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
  he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Psalm 139:5-6

You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Blessing Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

Will you bless me the way you blessed Abraham so I can bless others. Give me the power to impart blessing to those around me. Your promises stand before me – bless me Lord.

Hebrews 7:6-7

This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater.

Resurrection Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

Jesus Christ, you are my Priest, my Mediator, my King. You died and rose again. Because you live, I can live fully. Your sacrifice saved me fully from now throughout eternity.

Hebrews 7:11

Jesus Like Melchizedek

If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?

“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
    and security within your citadels.”

For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”

    with the first fruits of all your crops;

then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Kingdom Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

If I continually chase after your Kingdom, if I pursue your righteousness, all these less important things will be given to me abundantly. Forgive me for worry about tomorrow and I deal with every challenge that comes your way through your help.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Good News Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

Dear friends, lets receive the Good News. I hold firmly to your good news O Lord. I look forward to the fulfillment of your promises. Your grace has made me who I am.

1 Corinthians 15:1-10

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third dayaccording to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

Faith Prayer by Mary Jane Heringa

If Christ has not been raised, my faith is useless. God has raised Him from the dead. He is alive and my faith is real. My hope is in you oh God. In Christ I will be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:12

The Resurrection of the Dead

But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
